Corrective Exercise

CORRECTIVE EXERCISE:

Corrective exercises are specific movements that help to restore physical function. Through a detailed evaluation process, we determine areas of your body that lack mobility, stability, balance, and/or strength and we use corrective exercise to improve these. Instead of traditional exercise that is used to improve a measure of fitness or conditioning, corrective exercise aims to improve specific dysfunctions as determined by an examination. Following these corrective movements, we will perform a re-assessment to determine if the given exercises have improved the areas of dysfunction. If so, we will move on, if not, we will continue to dig deeper.

Head trainer Mike Robertson defines corrective exercise as an approach where an assessment is used to determine specific weaknesses or limitations of the athlete. This assessment drives the programming process, where a systematic and progressive approach is used to reduce the likelihood of injury and improve performance.

As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Certified Functional Movement Screen Expert, Dr. Tim has extensive experience in the field of corrective exercise. Dr. Laura also brings a wealth of knowledge through her Selective Functional Movement Assessment certification and Neurokinetic Therapy training as well.
